UPSC Interview topper Ashutosh Kumar is born and brought up in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. He did his schooling at St. Fidelis College, Lucknow and then went to IIT Kanpur to pursue his B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.
Ashutosh had made up his mind to appear in the Civil Services Examination at the time of his graduation itself, and so he didn’t take up any job after becoming an engineer. Instead, he started his preparation for the UPSC exam and gave his first attempt but couldn’t even qualify for the Preliminary exam.
This was his 4th attempt at UPSC CSE, and Ashutosh Kumar has now managed to get an All India Rank 77 and it really shows his perseverance and consistent hard work toward the Civil Services. His mother has been a great source of motivation for him throughout his preparation journey, and now Ashutosh has turned his dream of becoming a civil servant into a reality.
Political Science and International Relations (PSIR) was the optional subject of All India Rank 77 Ashushtosh Kumar for the Civil Services Examination, and he kept his faith in this subject starting from his first attempt to the fourth one. PSIR is a great optional for UPSC exam as most of its syllabus overlaps with the other general studies subjects, and this eventually helps in scoring better marks.
Ashutosh Kumar has scored 991 marks out of 2025 marks in total which comprises 785 marks in the Civil Services (Main) written exam and 206 marks in the Personality Test which is the highest marks in the IAS interview scored in UPSC CSE 2021.
