Samyak S Jain has secured All India Rank 7 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2021 on his 2nd attempt. Samyak Jain Motivational Biography

UPSC Topper Samyak Jain hails from Delhi and has done his primary education in Delhi itself. Due to the transferable nature of his father’s job, he moved to Mumbai and did his 10th and 12th from there.

As Samyak was a meritorious student, so he took the Science stream in 12th and then joined an engineering college in Pune. But he had to drop out because he got to know that he has a problem of visual impairment and that would be problematic in engineering.

Again his father got transferred to Delhi, and then Samyak did his graduation in English Honours from Delhi University. After that, he took up a Post-Graduate Diploma in English Journalism at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Delhi and then did an M.A. in International Relations from JNU.

After the master’s, Samyak Jain started his preparation for the UPSC Civil Services exam and gave his first attempt in CSE 2020 but couldn’t qualify for it. And this was his 2nd attempt at UPSC CSE and he has managed to get an All India Rank 7 which is a dream rank for most aspirants.

As he did MA in International Relations, so it’s natural for Samyak Jain to take Political Science and International Relations (PSIR) as an optional subject for the UPSC Civil Services Examination.

IAS Samyak Jain has scored 1031 marks out of 2025 marks in total which comprises 838 marks in the Civil Services (Main) written exam and 193 marks in the Personality Test, also known as the interview.

As Samyak Jain has the problem of visual impairment, so he prepared for the UPSC Civil Services Examination only in digital mode. It was initially a challenge for him to find the digital copy of every standard book that are popular in UPSC preparation category like Indian Polity by M. Laxmikanth, Indian Economy by Nitin Singhania, Ancient History by RS Sharma, Modern History by Spectrum, Geography by GC Leong, and others.

But his mother helped Samyak Jain a lot in curating study materials and resources for this exam. She literally scanned every pages of some books, and tried to make available every study material in digital copy for Samyak by any means, be it searching on the Internet, contacting different coaching, or just scanning into soft copy. This is how Samyak Jain completed his preparation for this exam, and cracked it on his second attempt.

His story is a true inspiration for everyone, and now as Samyak Jain would soon become an IAS officer his work will also be inspiring for the society and people.
