Shruti Sharma has secured All India Rank 1 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2021. Shruti Sharma is the first rank holder in Civil Services Examination 2021 which is conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Her first service preference is IAS and she can be seen very soon as an IAS officer after training in LBSNAA.
Shruti Sharma has referred to all the standard books most UPSC toppers study like Indian Polity by M. Laxmikant, Ancient History by RS Sharma, Geography by GC Leong, and UPSC preparation books by Bipin Chandra, Nitin Singhania, and others.
Apart from books, she made her own notes and focused on revising them rather than referring to different books for the same topic. Shruti Sharma has prepared for UPSC Civil Services Examination from Jamia Millia University’s Residential Coaching Academy (RAC), a program that focuses on Civil Services preparation.
All India Rank 1 holder Shruti Sharma has secured 1105 marks out of 2025 marks in the Civil Services (Main) Examination 2021 comprising 932 marks in the written exam and 173 marks in the Personality Test, better known as the interview in general.

UPSC Topper Shruti Sharma has taken History as her optional subject, as she has done her graduation in History and that helped her secure good marks in the Civil Services Examination as she had already studied most of the syllabus covered in this exam.

This is her second attempt in the Civil Services Examination where she secured All India Rank 1 which she also hadn’t expected. In her first attempt, she had to appear in the exam in the Hindi medium because for some technical reason that medium was mentioned in her exam form. But, this time she appeared in the exam in English medium and secured the first position in UPSC CSE.
Shruti Sharma is the first topper of UPSC Civil Services Examination 2021 who hails from Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh. Her parents are involved in the field of teaching and education.
UPSC Topper Shruti Sharma has done her schooling and higher education in Delhi. She studied in Cambridge Primary School till 5th standard, then Sardar Patel Vidyalaya till 12th and then pursued her graduation in History from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi.
She also got enrolled in JNU for her M.A. in Modern History, but she quit when got the chance the join Jamia Millia University’s Residential Coaching Academy (RAC), a program that prepares students for UPSC Civil Services Examination.
After her UPSC preparation, Shruti Sharma gave her first attempt but couldn’t qualify for the exam. And then learning from her mistakes and strengthening her preparation, she appeared for the Civil Services Examination for the second time and now she is the first rank holder.
Currently, IAS Topper Shruti Sharma is also pursuing an M.A. in Sociology from the Delhi School of Economics but now she may have to again quit as she will now be in her training for civil services. She has chosen IAS as her first service preference and Uttar Pradesh as her cadre preference, and she can be seen as an IAS officer very soon.
